Strengthening Awareness: Teen and Young Adult Mental Health Workshop
April 19 @ 3:00 pm – 5:00 pm

Supporting a teen or young adult who’s struggling can be challenging — and sometimes isolating. This workshop offers practical tools to help you respond with confidence, compassion, and calm.
From 3:00–4:00 PM, we’ll hear from Rev. Monica Harbarger, MA, NCC, LPC‑S, Executive Director of United Counseling in Birmingham. She will share insight into mental health and wellness, factors that impact well‑being, the unique challenges facing teens and young adults today, and how to recognize and support someone who may be experiencing a mental health crisis.
From 4:00–5:00 PM, participants will move into breakout sessions:
- Caring Adults Session led by Rev. Harbarger
- Teens & Young Adults Session led by Rev. Denise Mullaney, LiCSW, PIP, MDiv, United Counseling’s Huntsville provider
These smaller groups allow space for questions, coping strategies, and supportive conversation.
At 5:00 PM, all are invited to stay for an optional free meal — a taco and nacho bar from Taco Mama — and a chance to connect with others navigating similar concerns.
Please note: This workshop is educational in nature and is not diagnostic or a substitute for a clinical relationship with a licensed mental health professional.
